“adventure is out there!”
During today’s youth group service, I made an off-script reference to this line from the movie, “Up” to illustrate my walk with Christ during these past four years. It was one of those moments when that thing that you’ve always been thinking becomes so vivid in articulation.
I think I’ve always dreamed of living a life of adventure. I remember in high school and in early college, when someone would ask that dreadful question, “What do you want be when you grow up?” I couldn’t really come up with a solid answer. But I knew one thing: I wanted it to be an adventure. For it to be exciting, spontaneous, and dangerous. To live a life filled with new experiences and appreciation for beauty.
As I recalled that line, “adventure is out there,” it reminded me that though life didn’t go quite the way I planned, I’m living out my dream. Life has never been more exciting. It’s never been more spontaneous and dangerous. I wake up to new Mercies every morning and am suspended in awe of Beauty.
I’m getting to live out an adventure. And yeah, it’s dangerous, and there is a bad guy. There are times when I get lost and times of difficulty. But my Guide, He loves me unconditionally. When I get lost, He never lets me stray too far. In times of difficulty, He carries me. And He guarantees that at the end of it all, this story ends in perfection.
Adventure is out there, people. Go seek Him.
